Reader, today this diary turns one and I still cannot believe I am writing this... ⬇️
One year ago today I launched this diary with absolutely no idea what I was doing.
I told my partner about this vision I had, this Carrie Bradshaw inspired idea of just writing emails to strangers on the internet.
He said just go for it. He was also my first subscriber. 😂
I had no idea what I was going to write about... I just launched it anyway, quit video content, started showing up on Threads, my blog and just wrote.
Totally on the fly, no plan, no script and I still do it exactly the same way today btw. ✍🏼
Now since then... over 3,000 of you found your way here. 32k people on social media. Close to 170 ambitious women have invested in my products. My email platform featured me on their newsletter.
This became a full time business that lets me write from tropical islands like Bali, spend my summers in Europe and wake up every day doing something I am completely obsessed with.
But what you do not see in any of this is the years before it.
Before this diary I was struggling for 3 years.
Trying strategies that felt completely wrong, posting content that made me uncomfortable, following advice that just did not feel like me.
Nothing worked. 🤦🏼♀️
I had no real obsession for what I was building... and in the first week of March last year I was so close to giving up.
Almost crying myself to sleep, giving my business one more chance kind of close.
And then I got this idea to just start writing and stop performing.
So I did, and the rest is history.
That said, what I want you to take from today's diary is this...
What you see on social media is never the full picture.
Behind every business that looks effortless there are years of work, pivots, almost giving up moments and deciding to try one more thing.
My overnight success took 4 years.
So if you are somewhere in the middle of your own journey and it feels like nothing is working, pivot. Try something completely different.
There is a book called Purple Cowand the whole idea is simple.
In a field full of regular cows, be the purple one.
Do something so different that people cannot ignore it.
I started an email diary when everyone was telling me to post reels. That was my purple cow moment. 💜
Just trust your ideas and trust yourself, because when you do, something so incredible can happen.
